Frequently asked questions
- Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
- No. The file is read with the File API and every page is drawn on a canvas inside your browser tab. You can open your network inspector and watch: after the page itself loads, no request carries your document. Turn off your Wi-Fi and the converter still works.
- What resolution should I choose?
- 150 DPI is the sensible default — an A4 page becomes roughly 1240×1754 pixels, which looks sharp on any screen. Use 300 DPI when the image will be printed or run through OCR. 72 DPI produces small previews and thumbnails.
- JPG or PNG?
- JPG for scans and photographs: the files are several times smaller and the compression artifacts are invisible at 150 DPI or above. PNG for pages that are mostly text, line art, or charts, because lossless compression keeps thin strokes and small type crisp.
- Why does a page look different from Adobe Reader?
- Embedded font programs are not rasterised. Each glyph is drawn with the closest system font — serif, sans, or monospace — and placed using the width table from the PDF itself, so line breaks, columns, and page geometry match. Letter shapes can differ slightly on pages that use an unusual typeface. Scanned pages, which are just images, come out pixel for pixel.
- Is there a page or file size limit?
- The converter handles the first 100 pages of a document, which covers almost everything people convert. File size is limited only by your device's memory — a few hundred megabytes is fine on a normal laptop, and a phone will manage less.
- Can it convert a password-protected PDF?
- No. Encrypted documents are rejected with a message rather than silently producing blank pages. Remove the password in whatever application created the file, then convert the unlocked copy.
