Frequently asked questions
- Is my document uploaded to a server?
- No. Unzipping the .docx, reading its text, laying it out, and writing the PDF all happen in JavaScript inside your browser. Nothing is transmitted, so the tool keeps working even if you disconnect from the internet after the page loads.
- Does it work with non-English text?
- Yes. Because each page is drawn with your browser's own text rendering, Cyrillic, Greek, accented Latin, and other scripts come out exactly as the browser draws them — no font to install or configure. Right-to-left scripts and complex ligatures may not lay out perfectly.
- Is there a watermark or page limit?
- No watermark, no branding, no page cap. The practical ceiling is your device's memory, since each page is rendered before being written. A normal document of dozens of pages is no problem on an ordinary laptop.
- Will it keep my formatting exactly?
- It keeps the things that carry the meaning: paragraphs, headings, bold and italic text, alignment, bullet lists, and the page size and margins. It does not reproduce embedded images, tables as grids, columns, footnotes, or exact fonts — it's a text-first converter, not a full Word layout engine.
- Can it open old .doc files?
- No. The old binary .doc format isn't supported — only the modern .docx (the default since Word 2007). Open a .doc in Word or a free office suite, choose Save As, pick .docx, and convert that.
- Why is the text not selectable in the PDF?
- To render every language correctly without shipping fonts, each page is drawn as an image and placed in the PDF. That keeps the look faithful but means the text isn't selectable. If you need selectable text, print to PDF from Word itself.
