Frequently asked questions
- Why does text copied from a PDF have broken lines?
- PDFs store text as positioned lines, not flowing paragraphs. When you copy it, every visual line ends with a hard break, so pasting into Word or an email produces a ragged column instead of a paragraph. Removing the breaks restores normal flowing text.
- What does the paragraph mode do?
- It treats a blank line as a paragraph boundary. Breaks inside a paragraph are replaced with your separator, while the blank lines between paragraphs are kept — so the text keeps its structure but each paragraph becomes one continuous line.
- What happens to extra spaces and blank lines?
- Each line is trimmed before joining, so you never get double spaces where a break was removed. Empty lines are dropped in remove-all mode; in paragraph mode they collapse into a single paragraph separator.
- Can I replace line breaks with a comma instead of a space?
- Yes. Choose comma to turn a column of items into a comma-separated list — handy for pasting email addresses or values into a spreadsheet formula. The custom option accepts any separator, like a semicolon or a pipe.
- Is my text uploaded anywhere?
- No. Everything runs in your browser with JavaScript. Your text never leaves the page — nothing is sent to a server, logged, or stored.
